OK JTP, let's turn this public, it's time...
Guys, I'm currently completing a second run of WEYLAN YUTANI beer cans, using the cans I had left from the first run offered here a few months ago.
I don't think I'll produce a 3rd run, once they're gone it'll be over (those are too boring and time consuming to make)...
They'll be ready to ship in 10 to 15 days (still have to seal the bottoms and don't have much time for this) and be 70€ each, international shipping included.
JTP, you'll get 4 of those 20 cans, as promised, please do not worry !

and if there's no interest in those, well... I'll turn my place into a typical Nostromo room, with lots of beer cans displayed everywhere !
Last but not least, here is a pic of the new cans...

I have had some luck finding the push button cans on ebay, but have yet to pick any up. Maybe we can just get some for the tops? Many of the cans seem to be the smaller regular size, and most of them come from Canada. I wonder if there could be a way to reproduce it in metal, inexpensively?

Very interesting idea because erasing the brands with highly toxic liquid really isn't my thing (had to wear a mask, goggles and gloves to use this thing... and use it outside of course, becaus ethe smell was pretty strong inside the garage).
Mike you said, the question now is quite simple : How to proceed to cheaply replicate a beer / soda can ?

From what I heard they recalled the pushbutton cans because the buttons were falling loose into the can and sometimes being consumed. If you search for "button beer can" you will find some easily. I wonder if we can get one good can and cast it. It may have to be resin though, or maybe cold cast aluminum rotocast. Matsuo is supposedly an expert on this technique.

Thanks a lot for your interest Graham !
Well, I'd be OK to trade one of those for one of your Nostromo blueprints, what do you think ?

I got a message from Martin Bower and he mentioned at the end that he has an ORIGINAL Weylan-Yutani Beer Can there. Now I am jealous. |

He told me exactly the contrary last year when I was looking for someone who could provide photos of a screen-used can !!!

That is a great display. Reminds me of one of those multiple monitor setups where you've got several monitors displaying the same image. Just needs a mock up of Lambert's console and a pack of the smokes from the opening scene now. _________________
