Yes! I love it! Very eclectic. And look at all those Boyards!
While I usually like a display that provides plenty of space for the items, I actually think the "cluttered" look works very well here, bringing to mind the busy look of 2019 LA in the film.
Say, that's a very nice JWB Bottle you have there! _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

Agreed - very nice variety of props there and expertly displayed, Photek!
OW66, I believe that is a Safex Ashtray as described here:

Tim, PM Phil / repdetect for more info on this owl ashtray, he's the one who made it public on Bladezone some months ago !
Great BR collection, Photek, I especialy like the TV set upside down...
Why don't you paint your shelves in black or dark tone, it would make all your props pop up a lot more ?!!

thanks guys - when i got the case ... it was practically empty. after a couple of lucky eBay purchases, some generous help from my good buddy RepDetect (Thanks Phil!!), and of course the holy grail - OB's bottle ...
yeah it is getting quite cluttered. but i think i agree temponaut - thats the feel of the film after all. good idea about a darker color Skin Job 66 ... maybe i'll try a dark stain to color-match it better to Deck's furniture.
Offworld66 - my buddy Phil (Repdetect) tracked the owl ashtrays down somewhere in France. they are quite original and not from the film, but just
too cool to not go in our collections!
thanks again for the kind words guys. _________________ two legs bad, four legs good. |

Great collection Photek! And well arranged...I am a bit jealous of all you guy's that have such nifty display cabinets.
Are you all aware of the Japanese Philosophy known as Wabi-Sabi?
I first learned of it years ago in reference to Japanese Rock Gardens...
the definition I was given was "Uneven-eveness" the most literall example of which was a series of straight lines raked in the rocks that then became curvy.
But I think the BR Whiskey Bottle falls under the term as well. Here is a quote I recently found that I think sums it up pretty well:
Quote: | "if an object or expression can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi." |
Here's a more expansive description for the truly curious:
Wabi-sabi (侘寂, Wabi-sabi?) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience. The phrase comes from the two words wabi and sabi. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" (according to Leonard Koren in his book Wabi-Sabi: for Artists, Designers, Poets and Philosophers). It is a concept derived from the Buddhist assertion of the Three marks of existence (三法印, sanbōin?), specifically impermanence (無常, mujō?). Note also that the Japanese word for rust, 錆 is also pronounced sabi (the borrowed Chinese character is different, but the word itself is of assumed common etymology), and there is an obvious semantic connection between these concepts.
Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity, simplicity, modesty, intimacy, and suggest a natural process.
The BR Collections I have seen you all display remind me of wabi-sabi...some displayed very orderly with the bottle at center, others displayed very randomly with the bottle off to one side or corner. And still others with just the bottle and a Cibi Glass or not, labels applied or not, sitting by itself quietly in low light or in stark brightness...
All are wabi-sabi and strike me as very Blade-Runner "Like", some cluttered and busy like Deckard's Apartment or Sebastians Rooms, others neat and orderly like a desk or private office at Tyrell Corporation.
Well done one and all! |

Hey ! great thought on the Wabi-sabi OB !!...not to mix up with Wasabi anyway
As for the owl ashtray, i though it would have come from a tyrell corp. office...
Paulie, i've already said that but the upside down pop-up tv is freakin' awesome...i wish i get one someday...

Forgot to take a pic a long time ago so here is a quick set up...
Sorry I didn't have anything to put in the bottle. Think of it as a pic after a long night of work.

For the amount of time I spent on it, it ain't half bad. I tried a few different lighting combinations before I got this pic. I still need to play some more with it. Also play with some venetian blinds as well.
The Neon is also pretty cheap and can be had online or at Target (where I got mine). The best part is that a neon martini glass was used in the film and just be seen a few times in the movie. With lights off , Vangelis on the box, and a glass of Vodka/scotch in hand you can quickly feel like you are in the movie, especially if you empty the glass a few times.

If there`s a more evocative lighting source than neon, id like to see it.
Nice pic, all you need is J Cassidy to drop by and lie down in the foreground. _________________ Formerly offworld66

Excellent pictures and great collection you all!! Now, to add some ''atmosphere'' to the pictures you should try to crank the smoke machine to achieve the real BR look...works everytime. |

that neon light looks great! cool setup andy
great idea with displaying your paper props. would be cool to buy a large poster all-glass frame and collage everything flat in there to hang on the wall like a piece of art. much better than a dusty cabinet
dont supose you have anymore of those red snakepit matchbooks? I've been after one of those for ages _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

I would be willing to spare one more of those red matchbook sets. I am beginning to run low on these now, and even Gary W. doesn't have any more full boxes left.
Maybe we can down the road produce another run of these with the propsummit address on them as a promo item.
My table with the paper props in them needs to be changed around, but even while it is covered by my work I can look down and see something that makes me smile in between the mess on top. I have some more flat stuff that needs to be displayed and it is better for small stuff than framing. It might be cool to layer some glass on a coffee table for a similar idea.
As far as the photos, I might also have to play with using incense for smoke effect. I don't want my room too smokey, but since I am not using flash some billowed smoke might look cool. I did the whole set up and photos in under 20 minutes, and most of that was cleaning off my desk.

I imagine the answer is in a thread on this board somewhere, but I hope you won't mind if I ask again:

It is the Sebatians Laminates hair spray cap. It fits pretty loosely. Otherwise it is pretty acceptable in the mean time.
