Thanks a lot Joan... They'll be part of a paper prop set that I'll be offering here by September ! (but there'll be more than "paper things" in it... Stay tuned for more info in the upcoming weeks, I'm hard at work on this since January)

 Many thanks again,

 Fred

				| Looks like I've found another unidentified pipe in a cutted scene...
Look at the image below : The pipe smoked by Chew doesn't look like a churwarden ( the Snake Pit very long pipes) nor the short cutty used by the asian lady in the Animoïd Row sequence (please look at page 1 of this thread for more info).

				| I think I mentioned elsewhere: The stem of the clay pipe was made so that it could be broken off to give the next user a clean start from which to smoke.
These pipes very often were seen to be in a wide assortment of lengths for this very reason.
I don't think you have discovered a new pipe here, just another short one.

The first time I ordered some from John Griffiths, 2 were broken when arriving home... He immediately proposed to replace them. What a gentleman !

Glad to know that you ordered and like them, Mark ! (and welcome to the "Blade Runner pipe smokers club", BTW !)

Nope, sorry but I don't smoke !!! (a ciger from time to time, but that's all)

I aged mines using a zippo... Burn the bowl with the flame, it works very well ! (please look at the photo of my pipes on the first page of this thread, you'll have an idea of the end result using this tip)

				| Hi Skinjob 66. Using zippo. Thats a great idea. But I think one needs to have a steady hand to hold up the zippo to the target object. Thanks. _________________

 Hi Greg.
Well, when you do so, don't hesitate to move the flame inside and outside the bowl (the pipe is upside down during the process, of course).
Then, if you think it's too burnt outside, you'll be able to easily erase the extra burns with your thumb or a kleenex... That's what I've done with my pipes and it worked very well !

				| Another photo of a part of my BLADE RUNER prop collection (featuring a screen-accurate "asian lady pipe"), just for fun... or for Joan's props book project, maybe... Who knows ?

Looks like I was right, after all... Look at what I've found here :

 This is a 7 1/2 red tip pipe !

So, I think we can now affirm that there were 3 different kind of clay pipes used during production, at least on close-ups :

If you want to purchase Chew's 7 1/2 pipe (or one of the long ones / churchwardens featured in the SNAKE PIT scenes too, these are more screen-accurate than John Griffith's churchwardens), go there :

 HE HE, sorry Joan...

The good news is I think it was the last pipe that still needed to be identified... Glad to know you'll get 2 in your own collection, this way you'll never have to worry again about the words "clay" & "pipe" next time you'll see BLADE RUNNER !

 File closed, IMHO... Cheers !!!
