Eltee any idea about the Police holster? Most of the ones I have found are too small including the ones for the 44 Magnum. Could the police rubber stunts have been cut down? |

The photos of the cops standing by the wooden knee wall are the best ones I've seen showing the gun belt. The gunbelt of the cop in the fishnet T-shirt under the armor appears to be the black, basketweave "Sam Browne" belts used by cops then, and now. The holsters only show the tops, and appear to be "drop" holsters, also called Border Patrol style holsters. It looks as if they have thumb snap safety straps over the hammer area (or the back of the Steyr receiver) of the gun. Interestingly, the photo shows amber grips, not the black grips common with the known stunt guns. If not amber, then they are at least light woodgrain, but the buttplate is black.
My GUESS would be that maybe they did use custom cast or cut guns. Or, they cut the holster to fit the complete gun by opening a slit on the back seam to accomodate that big Steyr mag. Just speculation on my part. There is a slim chance that they got their hands on some Border Patrol (style, not the agency) holsters that were made for the early lasers that attached to the front of the trigger guard and ran along the bottom of the barrel. Something like that may have been able to accomodate a BR blaster.
On the batons, there are scenes where you can clearly see the patrol guys had batons. |

Thank you,
As far as the grips, the stunt gun at Screenused.com (permanent collection) shows painted grips that match the color of the amber grips but also appear as a type of woodgrain. I am guessing some of the stunts may have been painted for a low level stunt for Harrison, but also did double duty as extra stunts to fill out the police holsters.

Some more pics, this time of the rear of the chest armor...
Pretty interesting, since I don't know if the Sinisalo has such details in the back... Andy, could you please confirm ?

The Sinisalo Armor does have the lower two plates in back, but not the top two. He may have just had it on backwards, but it is my feeling that they used the JT/Sinisalo Armour as a base and used the plates to vacuum form replicas that were solid (no holes) and the same with the head piece using the Shoulder plates.
The screen used armour vest does show a slightly different layout of the plates and quilting, leading me to think they were individually made. I have seen one police man wearing armour that had the plates more closely matching the sinisalo layout (wider spacing between the breast plates and more narrow in the abdomen as opposed to the more even spacing seen with the auction armour) Which may mean they used the actual Sinisalo armour on at least one of the police officers.
Also the material looks like it was a kind of chenille(sp?) or glossy black fabric trying to look like vinyl, but thinner. It is possible that it was just painted black though. Back in the early days of my Goth/punkdom (before the days of Hot Topic and other online stores) many of us would spraypaint clothing (ie jackets, corsetts, pants) to make them black, and it had a similar look.

A pic of the Cops with some images of the armor and other uniforms...
Hope to resurrect this thread because I am looking to create the armored version for halloween, and then finish it as a screen accurate version later.

Absolutely amazing stuff guys.
Inspired by thesoz and Andy, I started getting the peices together for a Police hat replica a few weeks ago and when the hat arrives, can get underway. Scratch building pretty much everything, covering the hat and
knee pads (ear muffs) in cheap, light leather, although after Andys find, might be a bit redundant. Will take pics of everything along the way if it helps anyone.
Hopefully, from this........
To this............

Yes! Please post photos of everything along the way, offworld66. You've got a very good start there with the parts you've gathered.
Will be watching with great interest! _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

OK Tim, more photos from my files :
CHEST ARMOR
(I've photoshoped the back in order to give my taylor an accurate chest armor front / back guide)
HANDCUFFS
An evidence of the presence of handcuffs on the back, attached to the left of belt ??? (look at the ring thing below)
BELT
From screenused.com online archives. Since their archives are online, I suppose there's no problem to post those here...
ID NUMBER ON FACE SHIELD
Also from screenused.com online archives...
More to follow if I found the file where everything was stored for my own Street cop uniform project !

BLASTER WITH BLACK GRIPS
HEAD TURN-AROUND
CLOSE-UP
It drives me mad because I can't find in my files a similar photo in black & white I had saved from a Profiles in History auction !!!
The hunt continues... More tomorrow I hope ! (and sorry if some of those pics were already posted on the board, I just couldn't find all the threads already devoted to the cop uniform)

Great pictures Fred!
I'll see if I have any others in my files somewhere.
Neil
EDIT
Can't seem to find any. I'm pretty sure I have some but my files are all over the place. Will keep looking. |

I found the B&W portrait of the policeman I was looking for...
... and also this one (interesting for the boots and the lack of "data gauntlet" on the left forearm of the cop at the left of picture).
Et voilĂ !

Thanks for the pics Fred...as we can see on the black cop, his front visor has a row of 3 oblong holes, while others seems to just have a few "breathing holes" scathered along the bottom part of that visor. |

Check this for handcuff holders, under "strap":
http://www.stationhousevideos.com/px/duty_gear.htm
Not sure how the keeper would attach to the thick belt, but I'm sure they're attached this or a similar way vs. just being draped over the belt (cuffs aren't that long). |
