I just got SFMs email newsletter and thought some people on this board would be interested to know:

"Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM) is creating additional gallery space for upcoming exhibitions. As a result, the museum is moving a few objects to new locations.

A unique object, the Flying Spinner Car from the film Blade Runner, will be moved on July 7 from the Level 3 space in the museum. To do this, several exterior panels from the side of the building will be removed. Once it is out of the space, the Flying Spinner Car will be transported to another location for conservation. You are welcome to observe this process and take photographs. We expect the most interesting time to watch the move will be between 10:00 and 11:00 am.

Later this summer the Flying Spinner Car will be installed into Sky Church—a public area of the museum—where it can be enjoyed by everyone."

Great job, but why in blazes didn't they get that deep rich blue color right? It looks off no matter the angle or lighting... Other than that, awesome!

So when does the kit come out?

Does anyone have a clear shot of the Spinner from either side showing it full length. Or, a photo of the fron 1/2? I need some clear images showing the "DMV" decal just behind the front wheel. Can be from the movie or the museum car. THANKS for any help.

I heard it was in a hall that wasn't open to the public, a reservation only meeting area.

Correct. It was being displayed on an area of the museum closed to the general public and for pre-paid special events only.

Glad to see the people in charge at the Sci-Fi museum doing something worthwhile with this thing. It was a shame and a complete disappointment to me not being able to see it last time I was there. It was actually the whole reason for that visit so it left a pretty sour taste in my mouth.

Etlee,

It seems to me that the DMV137 goes on the right / passenger side door. The DV137 goes on the left / driver side door.

I found these reproductions. They seem pretty close.

Hope they help.

Eltee,

I got those images from a book with line drawings of the spinner from all sides. Nice book. Produced in Japan by the Blade Runner Fan Club.

I just looked at the decals I bought from Phil Steinschneider for my Anibus / Monsters In Motion spinner and both sides read "DMV". So I'm not sure which is accurate.

Does anyone know for sure what the spinners read? I know that there were a few typos here and there on various props.
