I was watching the science channel today and they had this fellow and his flying car on it. I had seen the car before, but had no idea that he had a thriving company and is using the sales of motorcycles mufflers and such to find the sky car!! _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

He is being sued by a bunch of people for not producing anything much as of yet. The reality of these is still far of in the future, unless a new technology is found. |

Yeah, I figured if the car was ever going into production, it'd be there by now. The science show I watched today was originally aired in 2000.
I was suprised to see a website for the company. The designer is obviously an eccentric wierdo who enjoys being the only person to get this close to producing a "flying car".
He said a few things on the show that made me roll my eyes.
Still, a very fascinating idea, and it's a fun website to surf. They even have videos of the skycar rescuing people from burning buildings and whatnot.
A couple of those shots are close to our BR fan film CGI!!

He's been building it in the next town over from me. About 15 miles away. Every so often, some new progress story pops up. _________________ -Rex

Although Moller puts up some publicity-type stuff every once in a while (progress pics, flying car test video) he has never actually produced a viable vehicle, except for a prototype craft offered through Neiman Marcus back in 2005 for the low, low price of $3.5 million. Hence, some people think he's actually just a con artist practicing a particularly long-reaching fraud. It's basically the ultimate in sci-fi fan vaporware. He has even been investigated for fraud before: http://www.sec.gov/litigation/complaints/comp17987.htm
There are several potential contenders for the first commercially-available flying car: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_car_%28aircraft%29#Current_development_examples |

Unless it's going to be flown by a (non-Microsoft) computer, you won't catch me in one (unless I can be the only one flying one). People have too much trouble not running into each other in 2-dimensions, I can't imagine how many more accidents we'd have if threw up and down into the mix. Then, if you did have an accident (or even if you just run out of fuel or have a mechanical malfunction), you have to add in the collateral damage of anyone below you that would get hit as one, two (or more) of these vehicles come falling out of the sky.
As cool as it looks . . . no thanks. _________________ Pete |

Good point darkknight I agree, but there is plenty of potential. _________________ I am busy planning things that don't happen, and procrastinating things that I don't want to happen.
