|
|
As of this morning (Thanksgiving) there is a banner on the Monsters In Motion site that says the blasters are in stock. The description page states that they will be shipped the 25th, which is this Saturday.
The person who has been pre-selling them on ebay has also changed his ad to state that they are in stock.
I haven't seen an update to the RPF sellers thread yet.
Whoo hoo! I just rearranged my display cabinet earlier this week to dedicate a shelf to my whiskey glass, ID badge and blaster. What a way to start the holiday season! _________________ If you're not BR Mafia, you're little people! |

I ordered the MIM. I didn't see the RPF post until after I had ordered - and I'm not registered there.
I'll post pics when it arrives, if anyone wants pics of specific areas let me know and I'll try to accomodate. _________________ If you're not BR Mafia, you're little people! |

Cool, I cant wait to see it, I thought hard about ordering one, but the pictures didnt seem very flattering, at least not the paint job. I hope it kicks ass coz that price is hard to beat! |

I agree about the paint. The pictures on the RPF thread are of the final piece, so yes it will have the metallic sparkly paint. I would much rather it just be plain old black. I don't know if I have the guts to take it apart, strip and repaint though. I'll just have to see how it looks in person.
I emailed MIM yesterday and asked when it would be shipping, and was told early next week. _________________ If you're not BR Mafia, you're little people! |

This ebay auction of the M2019 guns has some great pics of the gun and boxes. It also had pics of the assembly of the parts in China. If any body needs those pics let me know and I can email them to you. I am not crazy about the paint either and may have to scape up the cash to purchase another to customize....maybe not . |

Too bad they didn't do an unpainted one. I wonder who got the one shown at worldcon and at MIM? This gun with it's quantities, Production quality and being sold in the US will be the first real test to see if the BR partnership will go after anybody for BR props. This may be the first so hopefully we get ours before any CandDs get delivered. |

its here,
well mine is anyway. i have to say i think the grip is a bit small even for my hand, i think it has to do with the largeish trigger gaurd but other wise its a pretty nice display piece im going to have some dummy rounds made up today all in all i like it and i think it'll make a nice addition to my growing collection.

The reviews of this at the RPF seem mixed. There seem to be a lot of QC issues with it. I am not surprised though. I still haven't heard about my order though. It says it is still pending and when I contact them they say it will be shipped soon if they say anything. It sounds like MiM might be experiencing a bunch of complaints already for it. So that may be why they have been slow answering my questions. |

Mine came today.
And the official verdict is..."ehhhhhhh...."
Fit and finish are so-so. Feels somewhat flimsy, and the metal pieces are offset by cheap-feeling plastic/resin. LEDs don't seem to light up, and the bolt feels like it will snap off if you pull a twee bit too hard. Don't even get me started on the cylinder....
On the other hand, it looks pretty OK on my shelf, and it's probably a relative bargain at $250 given the state of the market. I'm not unhappy, but I'm not over the moon, either.
Bottom line: It's no PKD, and probably only slightly better than my old RACProps model.
I'll take pictures this weekend.... |

Yes, the cylinder thing really bugged me. I was looking at this as a holster and carry type replica. It still will be put I think that "reasonable wear and tear " will have very narrow margins.
The cylinder could have been any easy fix by putting the spring load mechanism on the slide switch. That way one would slide it back - which is natural- to release cylinder and the cylinder could be closed by pressure causing the spring to retrat slights and then lock the cylinder back in place. |

I got mine today. It is basicly what I expected. I also took it apart almost as soon as I got home. It came apart pretty easily. I did end up stripping one of the screws though because I put in a longer screw when i put it back together. It seems like it has elements of the Hartford and the Coyle. I took pictures of it in pieces but my camera is getting worse with its focus issues, so none of the pics are all too good. More comments to come soon. |

OK, here's mine:
Personally, I like these better:
Hell, I like my Syd Mead concept blaster better, too:
Then again, Blade Runner has taken a back seat lately to Casino Royale:
Of course, what do you expect from a guy whose props are kept in a haunted hotel room?:

very cool John...I am liking the Off World gun more and more because I keep playing with it. I can display the others, but this one is the only one I feel comfortable playing with (except maybe my Coyle stunt kit which is only partially done)...BTW where do you get the stands for your blasters from? |

This has created a bit of consternation for me.
I was much more relaxed when someone picks up the m2019 because I didn't have to give the trigger speech. However, the next thing they do is reach for a solid resin one. So far I've had 2 trigger guards pop off the resin ones and one dislocated trigger. Easy fixes as it could have been much worse.
I just got a new 33" acrylic bender unpacked and on the work bench. I want to make some display cradles for my BRs that support at the butt and receiver area. I have beautiful translucent blue and translucent red acrylic just sitting there waiting for me find the time. |

Hartford makes some cool stands for their guns and those are pretty well priced if you can get someone to ship and buy them for you. John's source looks pretty cheap too except they seem just a little off for fit. I wonder if they would make some customs? I know you need a few Rick . I personally would have anything I am worried about behind Glass. Rick ross once told me about how many of his guns got broken triggers at model shows. He pointed out that nobody would pull a trigger like that on a real gun. I personaly wince everytime I pull the trigger on My Offworld gun, not because of fear of trigger breaking but fear of it going off. If these guns ever go on sale I would likely buy another. I would also be interested if they made unpainted versions. Most of the problems with the gun look fixable. I do wish there were more metal parts in it though. At least the trigger guard and the butt plate. The barrel and bolt assembly too. The rest is okay with me for now. |

Here is part two of my Offworld Gun review...
First the negatives...
-The metal flake glossy paint job. This was copied after Rich Coyles V3 and later the Hartfords...too new and shiney as well as cheap and fake. Also quality controll of paint job is inconsistant.
-Loose Cylinder that doesn't close well and rattles.
-Too much plastic especially the trigger guard, butt plate and bolt assembly. More metal would be good.
-Poor fitting LED Steyr clip..hard to remove and doesn't sit in straight.
-too small of a grip. Copied both the Coyle, which was cut Down from the stunts and the Hartford that was made for smaller hands.
-Other minor imperfections in the molding process.
-Inccuracies to the hero. Too many to name here.
The Positives....
-Good weight...could be better though, but heavier than all my others. More metal would be good.
-Durable and can be played with without too much worry.
-Great trigger and hammer action...feels very clean and realistic...too bad it isnt able to fire caps, but might be able to be made to do so.
-Can be field stripped allmost entirely. Should make it easy to customize.
-Lots of good function and features...not as much as a Hartford but more than all the others.
-Price..still better than all built-ups made.
-Fully removable LED steyr clip.
-Easy to open Cylinder.
-Fits my Holster.
-Fun to play with. Just don't point it at neighbors and cops.
Final grade B+
Not the ultimate BR Gun by far, but a good value and would make a good Cosplay prop. Some people at the RPF are working on upgrade parts that might come out in the near future. |
