Well it still could be that there is an upper barrel. It could be an extra-large caliber metal storm type round. (pre-loaded barrel that fires several stacked rounds, one at a time, electronically)

Would it not be simpler to just cut the trigger guard down a tiny bit? It is WAY oversized and eats up too much of the grip.
It is actually larger than a magpul combat trigger guard from an AR-10.

Is it a known fact that the cylinder covers were fabricated for the purpose, or is it possible they came off something else?
